Fabienne Verdier

Pineta

For two decades, Fabienne Verdier has spent time annually in Porto Vecchio, Corsica, observing and immersing herself in the coastal landscape. Her engagement with the headlands, coves, inlets, rocky ridges, gnarled pine trees, sea, and horizon translates into her artwork. The strokes of her pastel stick, both dry and oil, capture the lived experience of the landscape, resulting in drawings that are described as essential, uncluttered, and minimalist.

These works are intended to engage multiple senses, evoking the scent of resin and the sound of wind through pine needles. The vastness of the sea is represented through a simple collage of blue paper. Verdier, born in Paris in 1962, lives and works in the Vexin region. Her work is held in numerous international collections, and she has had significant exhibitions, including a retrospective at the Musée Granet in 2019.
