Travessia

Travessia presents works by Patricia Leite, running from September 5 to October 10, 2026, at Mendes Wood DM Paris. Leite's practice, which emerged during a return to painting in Brazil in the early 1980s, initially showed influences from artists like Klee and Volpi, characterized by abstract, organic, and gestural forms associated with "sensitive geometry."

Following a fifteen-year period of developing her personal artistic language, Leite's work evolved towards a synthesis of the world, painting, and the painter. Her paintings, such as the 2003 work "Barnett Newman," utilize oil paint on untreated wood to achieve luminous, layered colors. These works often feature broad planes of color and suggestive forms, evoking fleeting moments and emotions, drawing parallels to the concept of involuntary memory found in the writings of Marcel Proust.
